Ceiling Mounted Curtain Tracks

Ceiling curtain tracks generally offer a neater appearance than wall-mounted options.

Most of the tracks on this page are fitted flush against the ceiling with special clamps that are virtually invisible from both sides of the track. The exceptions to this are the Silent Gliss 1080, 1090, and 1280 which are are fitted with nylon brackets that aren't as attractive - though they are a solid, cost-effective option if budget is limited.

Ceiling Curtain Tracks Buying Guide

Choosing the right ceiling curtain track comes down to a handful of key decisions. Once you understand these, the best option usually becomes clear.

Cord Drawn or Hand Drawn?

Hand drawn tracks are the default for most homes. They are simpler, more discreet, and typically more affordable. Cord drawn tracks are worth considering when access is difficult — for windows that are very wide, high up, or have furniture in front of them. They're also a good option for delicate or light fabrics, as they avoid the need to touch the curtains.

What Curtain Header Are You Using?

Your curtain header determines track compatibility. Wave curtains are increasingly popular thanks to their clean, modern appearance. They use linked gliders to create consistent S-shaped folds, but not all tracks support this system - notably the cheaper ones. Even if you are not choosing wave curtains immediately, selecting a compatible track helps future-proof your installation as gliders can be changed retrospectively on hand drawn tracks.

The photo below shows Silent Gliss Wave Curtains on a 3840 corded curtain track (which shares the same profile as the hand drawn 6840 - our most popular ceiling track).

Which Track Colour?

White remains the most popular finish because it blends into the ceiling. Black is growing in popularity for contemporary interiors, and some customers choose to match the colour of the track to other architectural details. All of our tracks are available in white, some in white and black only, and others are available in multiple colour options like antique bronze or silver.

Are You Looking for the Cheapest Option?

If budget is the priority, the Silent Gliss 1080 is a reliable entry-level track suited to straightforward installations. However, it does not support wave gliders, and most importantly, the brackets are more visible than other tracks - so it's not ideal when the track can will be seen from both sides and underneath (for bi-fold doors, for example). Nevertheless, it's a popular option for secondary rooms or rental properties.

Have You Considered a Recess Fit?

Recessed tracks are fitted into a channel, so the track sits flush with the ceiling, allowing curtains to appear as though they emerge directly from the ceiling. The result is minimal and high-end, while also enhancing perceived ceiling height. Installation usually needs to be planned early, as retrofitting can be difficult, but if it is possible, a recess is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make.

Do You Need a Heavy Duty Ceiling Track?

Standard tracks handle most residential curtains, but very heavy fabrics and commercial environments often require a stronger system. An under-specified track can lead to difficult operation, bending, and premature wear. Heavy duty tracks provide greater rigidity and smoother gliding under load, and the cost difference is typically modest compared to replacing a track later.

Do You Need a Custom Bent Track?

A ceiling-fixed track is a popular option for bay windows and curved room dividers. Silent Gliss tracks can be factory bent for accurate curves and smooth operation, while the Cameron Fuller Square30 tracks can be bent on-site - useful where taking accurate measurements is difficult.

Double Curtain Tracks

Double tracks allow two sets of curtains to be used — typically a sheer for daytime privacy and a heavier curtain for night-time coverage. They add softness and depth to a room while improving light control. Installation is straightforward, with one track mounted in front of the other, and the added versatility makes this a popular upgrade.

Which Profile Shape Do You Prefer?

Once the functional decisions are made, the final choice is aesthetic. Square profiles feel minimal and architectural, rounded profiles integrate more easily into traditional spaces, and circular designs are more decorative when the track is visible. Performance is broadly the same, so focus on the look you want to achieve.

Final Thought

After deciding on operation, header compatibility, finish, strength, and installation method, the right track usually becomes obvious. Investing slightly more in a well-specified system is often worthwhile — a good ceiling track should last for decades and is best treated as part of the architecture rather than an accessory.
